On 27 November in Zielona Góra, PKF Polska officially launched a new cooperation initiative with representatives of business, local government, universities, financial institutions, and the sports community to support the long-term development of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. The meeting, hosted at Marcin Nitschke’s Snooker Academy, marked the start of an open dialogue on building sustainable partnerships and strengthening the investment attractiveness of the Lubuskie region.

Why the Lubuskie Region Matters for Business?

The Lubuskie region in Poland is increasingly recognised as an attractive destination for SMEs and foreign investors. Its geographic location near Germany, the dynamic development of local entrepreneurship, and a growing number of international investments create excellent conditions for long-term business expansion.

With strong local ambitions and an active business ecosystem, Lubuskie is well positioned to develop innovative projects that support local companies and strengthen the region’s role in the Polish economy.

For many international companies — including German entrepreneurs operating in western Poland — Lubuskie offers strong growth potential and a strategic location close to key cross-border markets.

Key Topics: Supporting SMEs, Foreign Investors, and Cross-Border Cooperation

The meeting focused on the most relevant challenges and opportunities for businesses operating in the Lubuskie region, including international and cross-border companies:

Stronger cooperation between business and local administration

Both SMEs and foreign investors benefit from coordinated support and effective “bridges” between business, local government, and public administration. Such cooperation is essential for creating a stable and predictable environment for growth.

Technology, compliance, and business competitiveness

Participants discussed how technology and skills development are crucial pillars of long-term competitiveness. Key topics included:

  • ongoing tax changes affecting Polish businesses,
  • KSeF implementation in Poland (National e-Invoicing System),
  • HR and finance digitalisation,
  • process automation and modernisation.

When implemented effectively, these changes can significantly improve operational efficiency and strengthen a company’s market position.

ESG and sustainable growth

Another major topic was ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) — increasingly important for companies working with international partners and investors. Sustainability, environmental responsibility, and strong social relations are now essential elements of a resilient and future-ready economy.

Partners, Patronage and Regional Business Engagement

W inicjatywę zaangażowali się m.in. Miasto Zielona Góra, Organizacja Pracodawców Ziemi Lubuskiej (OPZL), Uniwersytet Zielonogórski, Zielonogórski Integrator Biznesowy (ZIBI) oraz Stowarzyszenie Księgowych w Polsce (Oddział Okręgowy w Zielonej Górze).

The initiative brought together key organisations supporting regional development and business cooperation in Zielona Góra and Lubuskie, including:

  • the City of Zielona Góra,
  • the Lubuskie Employers’ Organisation (OPZL),
  • the University of Zielona Góra,
  • the Zielona Góra Business Integrator (ZIBI),
  • the Association of Accountants in Poland (Zielona Góra Regional Branch).

A formal highlight of the event was the presentation of the Zielona Góra Business Integrator Certificate, confirming that PKF BPO’s Zielona Góra office is part of ZIBI and has adopted the principles of the City of Zielona Góra’s Cooperation Code for companies and business support institutions.

As a direct outcome of the cooperation, PKF’s Zielona Góra office has also joined the Lubuskie Employers’ Organisation (OPZL).

The event was held under the media patronage of FOCUS ON Business, with Marcin Nitschke acting as the PKF event ambassador.

Why the Snooker Academy Was the Right Venue

The venue choice reflected the “Masters of Precision” partnership between PKF and Marcin Nitschke, a snooker champion and ambassador of values that align with PKF’s approach to business: precision, responsibility, strategic thinking, and resilience under pressure.

After the official part of the event, guests continued networking and discussions about regional cooperation and investment opportunities in Lubuskie. Participants also attended a presentation and live demonstration of professional snooker techniques and took part in mini-tournaments competing for the President’s Cup.
